"Our mission is to provide students with a
positive, safe learning environment that meets their needs and
abilities and inspires them to maintain a healthy physically active
lifestyle!"
Welcome Back!!!
We look forward to many activities this year.
All first graders will work on their locomotor skills for most of the school year and earn a "locomotor license" at year's end. These skills include walking, running, skipping, galloping, jumping, hopping, slithering and crawling.
They will also learn pathways, direction and level changes. First graders will learn to cooperate in small games as well as throw, catch and kick all sorts of balls.
Also, they will learn rhythm and dance sequences which include line dances, square dancing and party dances.
All grades will engage in our "walk for fitness" program, where we fitness walk everyday. Fitness walking, for the majority of the days, will be for 10 minutes and sometimes for 40 minutes. They will work to earn a "walker charm" to add to their bracelet collection from previous years. This is a fun way to promote fitness and healthy life-long habits!
Second, third and fourth graders:
These students will participate in many activities throughout the year.
Fall and spring physical fitness testing:
Mrs. Melillo and Mrs. Brooks look forward to a fun and exciting year here at Nixon School.
